Untangle Firewall Cannot Find Boot Device

Problem:

I sent a u25x on site and the person acting as my eyes and hands used the USB 3.0 ports to hook up the keyboard and mouse.

For some reason this causes the box to not see the hardisk and it won’t boot. It first goes straight to trying to boot from PXE then it will give up and ask you to insert bootable media.

Solution:

Plug the keyboard and mouse into the USB 2.0 ports (not the blue ones).

CentOS 7 – WordPress Permissions Cheatsheet

Before Updating – Fix Permissions

#Set wordpress directory permissions

#Set wordpress file permissions
find /var/www/html -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;

#SELinux - Set Directories To Be Writable
sudo chcon -t httpd_sys_rw_content_t /var/www/html/ -R

Use SCP With Different Port Number

Example:

scp -P 30000 index.html  root@ipaddress:/home/user

-P port (Upper Case “P”)
Specifies the port to connect to on the remote host. Note that this option is written with a capital `P’, because -p is already reserved for preserving the times and modes of the file in rcp(1)

Mac OS X Sock Proxy Enabled After Every Reboot

Problem:

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.14.4

The end user was experiencing internet connectivity outages randomly with Mail and Safari apps. Using the terminal I was able to ping google.com while other apps like Safari wouldn’t load any websites.

I noticed in the network settings that a Sock Proxy was enabled with localhost withport 8080. I knew this had to be the reason for the internet connectivity problem so I removed the setting and immediately was able to surf the internet again and receive email on the Mail app.
